1. What .dave Is

.dave (Data Acquisition & Validation Engine) is a file format and schema for carrying creative works, rights data, and payment routing information through AI and traditional media pipelines. It is owned and maintained by aifilmcompany.com

The .dave specification is open. Anyone may read, write, and implement .dave files in their own systems, free of charge: as long as they follow this licence.

2. Core Rights and Ownership

• The name .dave is a trademark of aifilmcompany.com

• Only files that meet the official .dave specification and pass our certification process may use the .dave name.

• The .dave specification may be freely implemented, but the brand and certification mark remain under our control.

3. Royalty and Clearinghouse Rules

• Every .dave file can carry embedded payment routing data — including royalty splits, wallet addresses, and bank IDs.

• To trigger payments, .dave files must connect to the official .dave Clearinghouse operated by aifilmcompany.com LTD.

• Platforms, studios, and AI systems can report usage:

  Directly via our reporting portal.

  Automatically via our API.

• The Clearinghouse charges:

  A small per-transaction fee on royalty payments.

  Subscription or API fees for bulk processing.

4. What You Can Do

✅ Share .dave files with others, for free or for sale.

5. What You Can’t Do

❌ Use the .dave name or logo for non-certified files.
❌ Change the .dave format and still call it .dave.
❌ Remove or alter rights metadata in .dave files.
❌ Bypass the Clearinghouse for commercial usage.

6. Why This Licence Exists

We keep the spec open so .dave can become a universal standard. We keep the brand and Clearinghouse under our control so rights holders get paid, creators stay credited, and the ecosystem stays trusted.
